What do you fancy?

Dear reader,

Just a quickie as I'm off to work soon.

Weigh in Wednesday tomorrow.
I haven't been bad but I haven't been an angel.

I'm very good at excuses. I will have worked 12 days in a row at between 8 and 11 hours a day and I'm only half way through and already tired.

The weather is so awful with torrential rain it has put paid to my running.

Because I've been at work I haven't done much cooking so meals have been less organised.

I am trying to eat breakfast but never feel that hungry in the morning. Takes me a couple of hours to fancy food, however as I write this the TV is on and there is an advert for a nice looking cereal on the screen. Nice crunchy little nuggets with lots of nutty bits. It looks really healthy, could be a change from my Weetabix.

Hmmm, have just seen a small whiskered face peeping out and discovered it is in fact Go-Cat.

What do you fancy in the morning?

  1. I don't fancy anything in the morning, I am firmly in the camp that I don't have to like it, I just have to eat it! Taking this approach I've gone from having nothing or a bar of Dairy Milk to having cereal, porridge, toast or a bagel with peanut butter for breakfast.

  2. I'm the same as you; need to wait for breakfast until I've been up and drank my 2 cups of tea and showered, etc. before eating.
I usually have porridge, made with water in the microwave, then milk added *plus a spoonful of Golden Syrup* oops! Banana to follow, then try to last out until dinnertime.
I'm having chicken salad with 2 small boiled potatoes tonight so shan't eat until then; if I eat breakfast, I need regular feeding afterwards. That doesn't work when I'm trying to lose weight!!
Weigh-in tomorrow morning - am I missing all the others who have 'signed up' or aren't they posting their results on here?

  3. It depends - sometimes I'm not hungry either in which case I eat later. Otherwise I have fruit and yogurt and toast usually.

  4. If I am up really early, I cannot eat breakfast as like you, it is too early. I am not always hungry, but if I eat at 6am then I certainly will want my lunch by 10! What I used to do if I had to go off early was to take something to eat around 9am. I got into the habit of making some 'breakfast muffins/bars etc' usually based around porridge oats/muesli (similar to the ones you can buy but of course much cheaper). This is no good for you at present, but maybe you could buy something like Special K bar or some of the diet breakfast bar thingies, just to get you through this busy spell. In the office I work in some people bring in their cereal/porridge to eat around 8.30-9am, not sure if you could do that? There are the new instant porridge pots; of course I would not pay that price for them but if you are interested I know Morrgage Free in Three made some instant porridge. I am not sure if I still have my (fairly healthy) morning muffin recipe, but will look around if you are interested.

  5. I'm naughty I don't often eat breakfast but if I do it tends to be 2 slices of nimble with a squashed banana on, no butter, its quite filling and usually lasts me until lunch time. Sometimes I'll have porridge but not often, i certainly dont fancy Go Cat!!! :-) x

Weigh in tomorrow, I will be back to report a loss/ gain, not too hopeful as still not excercised....lazy moo..I am ! Karen x

  6. How many calories in G-Cat then? Might be worth a try!
I have never eaten breakfast, but have recently been put on some tablets that are taken three times a day with food. So I have tried to eat breakfast to fit the pills in. I have been making myself porridge with water and then adding milk and sugar, but I do have to force it down.
Mind you , I then don't feel like snacking until lunch as the porringer is slow release. energy
Good Luck with your diet challenge

  7. Morning ladies, here is my weigh in confession. I have put back on 3 lbs!! Not totally surprised as my initial 5 lb weight loss was honestly due to being sick over Christmas. Still it is a net 2lb down. Have been good about the exercise though since being back to work. Went out walking 3 times already at lunchtimes but the weather is so glorious at the moment it would be foolish not to. I think nature is being fooled into thinking it is spring here - although it won't last of course. Anyway, onwards and upwards (or downwards). Good luck to all. Anna

  9. Try making Swiss Bircher and taking it with you. I also sometimes make oatbran muffins or like Karen a banana sandwich.

  10. Wednesday morning : Only 1lb lost this week but it's still a loss, so that's OK. Of course we all want to lose 3 or 4 lbs a week, but it ain't gonna happen, is it? If I lose 1lb a week, I shall have lost a whole stone!!!!!!! by the second week of April when I will be meeting up with my niece and her hubby when they come down to Cornwall. THAT will be a good feeling when they see the difference. The next stone , at just 1lb per week, will be gone by mid-July - just right for the summer holidays. yay!!! So take heart, ladies - it CAN be done in very small insignificant sounding steps. Incidentally, although I'm reading through my old Slimming World recipe books for meal ideas, I'm following the 5:2 diet plan. The old tummy is adjusting to have 2 days on restricted calories and there's always the thought that I can eat 3 sensible meals tomorrow!
Keep going - onwards and downwards. xx

  12. I'm the same and rarely eat breakfast in the morning. Although I know I should, I just don't fancy the idea of food until late morning/lunch time. Good luck to everyone with their weight loss. Sx

  14. Weigh in Wednesday - I'm really pleased to have lost 5lbs! I know it's mostly because it's my first week on the diet and it will slow down, but a real good start which has made me feel really positive about the future!
    Hope you're okay?

  16. Weigh in Wednesday...........a day late, but never mind. I was 224lbs on 30th December, and last night I was 219lbs, a loss of 5lbs. I'm quite happy with that. I have cheated a bit too, so I must try harder. The thing is I already feel a little less bulky, and I know the more I lose the better I'll feel. So, any loss is good. I feel ready to try harder.
