I've let you all down. X

Dear reader,

It's been a while. I have been so busy and a bad thing has happened. Big man and I went back on the fags! For US readers that is a well used and acceptable term for cigarettes.

I have been too ashamed to tell you and so I have stayed away.

Give me a while to rectify this and I will be back.

I don't feel able to write a frugal blog while we are burning £15 a day.

I'm so sorry, I feel I've let you all down.

X

  2. Hi, I wondered where you had got to. Listen we all fall off the wagon for one reason or another, no one is perfect. Maybe you were trying too hard at too many things all at once, you also have a stressful job with such long hours. Take a break and reflect on how well you have done over the past few months and when you are ready we will all be here to support you and cheer you on your way to debt freedom.

Until then take good care of yourself
    Love Karen xx

  3. You are human. I occasionally speed and get speeding tickets which is a total waste of money - we all have our issues. Please don't feel ashamed or stop blogging over it :)

  5. My hubby gave up 3 years ago and still uses a nicorette puffer, don't feel bad, just keep trying, you'll get there in the end. Remember every time you give up and restart you have learned something else about what works & Doesn't for you.

  6. You have not let me down - what would be a let down would be if you were writing one thing and doing another - you are actually being 1. very honest and 2. human. Which is good because I don't like to read blogs from computers, only real humans who live laugh and love and sometimes bugger it up.
Live your life. Smoke or don't. Just don't stop writing your blog. xx

  7. Who wrote the rule that said you had to be perfect 100% of the time? You know that you have slid backwards, you are ashamed you CAN deal with this. Let those who are without sin cast the first stone. You have not let anyone down but yourselves and only you can sort that out. Do not stay away, I know that I do not live by anyone's rules but my own and I break out sometimes, then I compensate. Be strong and take care. Pam

  8. You have not let us down at all, the only people you have let down is yourselves, but you can always forgive yourselves and move on.

We are not here to judge in Blogland, just to help out and be there for each other whenever we can be.

It seems you know yourself that burning £15 a day in cigarettes is totally un-frugal, but that's nothing in comparison to what you are doing to your health. Personally I would rather set fire to £15 in notes each and every day before putting a cigarette in my mouth (and YES I smoked for 16 years).

Please carry on with your Blog if you feel able to, you really don't have to even mention the cigarettes, unless of course you want support to quit and then there will be a lot of folk on here that will be rooting for you.

    Take care.

  9. They say that giving up smoking is worse than giving up heroin. I stopped and started smoking for about 10 years before I eventually gave up (four years now), but I still fancy a ciggie when I am drinking or am stressed. Don't bash yourself over the head so much, you tried and you will try again. Please don't stop blogging, you will keep on being frugal in other areas of your life and when you are able you will be able to save money on fags. Be kind to yourself you have done so well xxx

  10. Have you thought of trying these e-cigarettes?
It might be a cheaper alternative in the long run?

  11. I agree with everyone else, especially Karen.

We all do things that other people would think were a waste if money or that they didn't understand. This whole thing's all about doing what we do, not about trying to (or pretending to be) perfect. Good to see you back.

  12. If you want to smoke, that's your right and entitlement. So long as you can afford it, and you're not borrowing money to do so, then it's your choice of how you use your money, and nobody here will be judging you on that I hope. If you DON'T want to smoke, then the only person you are letting down is yourself. To put things into perspective though, your £15 a day is nearly 5.5k a year - which is somewhere close to a third of my total gross income.
Be cautious with the e-cigarettes as an alternative too - there are some serious health scares coming out around those now.

  13. Oooooh F.I.N. it happens! You will have learnt a lot to help you next time to try. Give yourself a break and when you are ready, try again. Frugal isn't about being perfect, though there are those who sometimes give that impression.
Keep Blogging and take care of youyrself

  14. We're all only human including you my dear, if I had a pound for every time I've started a diet I'd be a very rich woman instead of an well built gal!! You'll do it when you're ready - don't beat yourself up - it just wasn't the right time xxx

  15. You shouldn't feel that you have let anyone down, or that you need to justify yourself to anyone either. There will always be those who want to judge you of course; those who like to tell others they shouldn't be smoking, or eating cake, or buying anything other than cheapo shampoo, or any one of the things that they used to do, but don't do any longer. When it comes down to it, it's your money, your body, your life and your choice.

  16. If starting smoking is the worst thing you've done lately, it's not the end of the world.

Life is one day at a time. When you are ready to quit you will.

How about you blog about the journey to non-smoker? How you have budgeted to include the tobacco?

    I'd be intererested.

  17. Please don't give up on your blog - we just want to read about you and what you are up to, we are not here to judge. As plenty of the other commenters have already said, we all have our weaknesses, our slips - so please don't let it be an obstacle to writing this blog and sharing the other things that you do, whilst you work your way back off the cigarettes, IF that is what you want to do. Hugs xx

  18. Don't be too hard on yourself you haven't let anybody down. We are all here to support each other not judge. You are aware of what you have done and I am sure you will find the best way to move forward.

    1. I also live in Beechy Bucks Nim, but sadly I haven't had the pleasure yet of reading one of your blogs. :(
Now. since you mention 'wine' (which I'm told is good for my heart), I actually find everything much easier after a wee glass of red. :)
Although, being a non-smoker, I have never had to try to give up.
      Cheers... B

Please come back to blogging and you can chat to all of us on how good or difficult your day has been and receive our support!
