Booty called

Dear reader,

A lovely, sunny weekend here in Buckinghamshire. We rose early on both days and Sunday we went to a boot sale. I wasn't on the look out for anything in particular but fancied a picnic hamper for our days out at National Trust house where I want to take a really nice cream tea and sit on one of the superb lawns at a big house somewhere.

There is a green grocer stall there that also does some food items. I got three 200g Bovril tubs for £1.75 each. They are £3.09 in the shops and I use quite a lot of it in gravy and love it on toast so into the store cupboard for them.

I also found some really pretty hat boxes which I love for storage and on top of cupboards. I got a stack of three in cream and a red one, all for £5.
I also found a nice, new hamper for £4 which I will add nicer crockery and cutlery to.
I got a lovely little wooden chair, very intricate with a wicker seat area. I know some people don't agree but it will be painted white and a pretty cushion made/found for it.
I spent £28 including entry, yes they charge us £2 each to get in! So that's my 30 tips money gone. The change went into the sealed pot.
Do you boot sale and what's your best bargain?

Have a good week.

  1. LOVE the hamper, oh thats just perfect for those posh National Trust picnics lol. I saw one at a boot sale and couldn't decide, then 2 minutes later doubled back to find it gone... I was so cross with myself for the rest of the day!! Gorgeous hat boxes they are a fortune in those little individual chic shops. I think you spent your £30 on some lovely things and when you think of the "new" cost they are brilliant bargains. Well done. K. x

  3. I am glad you had a nice weekend; the weather in Norfolk was nice too but it did not really bring the campers out so we were quiet again. Well done on your purchases - I used to have a picnic hamper but hubby thought it was a bit girly (he is not romantic) so it never got used, but will be perfect for your cream teas. I think you spent your 30 money saving tips very well - and a little left for the sealed pot too.

  4. Great finds. I thought 80p for entry was steep as it's what I pay. Sometimes it's worth it though especially when you find wonderful gems like you did. I do find I spend a fair bit of money and am thinking I should have a budget for such trips. Its difficult though cause you never know what you may find.

    1. I agree, £2 each is a lot but any later and all the good stuff is gone.
