  1. Your going to be really sick of rice by the end of the week :p

I'm eating out of the freezer this week other than some milk, bread and fresh spinage.

  2. You could always swap Monday dinner/Tuesday lunch for cous cous or tomatoey pasta...if you have some tinned tomatoes lol At least rice is easy to prepare when you are busy. It all sounds lovely, Cheezy beans on toast....mmm

Hopefully we are on target for another good week too.

  3. Just read your comments on SFTs blog. Please Please don't get stressed about how much you spend on food compared to others, for us two about £50 is a usual spend and my hubby isn't a body builder. I understand how important it is for your hubby to have the right amount of protein and just how expensive that can be. You both work such long hours too and there isn't always time to batch cook or buy cheaper cuts of meat and do the long slow cooking. You are trying your best and don't beat yourself up about your spends if thats what you are comfortable with. Im able to keep costs down at the moment as we have a huge stock that needs using up but when thats gone it will be back to spending more. We all have different needs so please don't get stressed about it, life is too short.

Take Care and enjoy your week xxx

    1. Karen, you write the best comments! Made me feel better. It is difficult sometimes when you read other people's blogs and I think I'm not doing so well. You're absolutely right. Life is too short. I've done well today. I've made the curry and a pesto pasta and pea dish. Very green but great with some grated cheese on top. Am doing the chicken for tonight and got the pork ready. May do that in the slow cooker as you mentioned. At least I know it well be soft.
Thanks again for your supportive words. Xxx

    2. This is an excellent plan. I am so impressed. You are right you have done really well today. I hope you get the time to read my reply to your comment on my blog.

Please believe in yourself. You always inspire me when I read your blog-and you are a seriously talented cook too!

  4. Hi FIB, as usually great recipes using what you have. I just want to reiterate what Karen has said above. Don't let benchmark yourself against others that may have different needs and focuses. Same destination just differing journeys. I love your recipes, your right on the button of where you need to be. Get that bloody bread maker on and fill your freezer with loaves and unbanked dough for short notice pizza. Just bought a timer switch to us with my slow cooker, thinking its maybe a good option when I'm out for such along as you often are. Don't lose faith in yourself, you are on the right path , take care Emma

  5. Sarah, please don't become despondent. You are doing a great job. Look how far you've come. It's the same destination but we all travel differing journeys. I'm not sure who you are benchmarking yourself against, there are some many variables that can askew this. Don't lose faith, you have made great strides, you have the skills to pull this off. I've just bought a timer plug to use my slow cooker on days like yourself when I am out for extended hours. Get that bread maker on and freeze some loaves as well as dough for last moment pizzas. I find I spend less doing one bulk shop and then just refuse to go again. It's a tough challenge but we are all with you x
